Still no sign of any movement for mat smith's Hazards of Geocaching 2 (The Sheep) Travel Bug, but good news for both of the leading contenders in The Great Travel Bug Knockout;
Team Blid435's BraveHeart continues it's Antipodean adventure, having been retrieved by local Queensland cacher Fullboar2010 from the TB Motel that was checked into, although Love and Peace (Maan) (owned by Hediya) may have caught a crab in Canada, after cacher geric1 dropped it into this puzzle cache, 61.06 miles from where he picked it up 3 days ago.

Is geocaching about to become less hazardous?
5...4...3...2...1...
With four days until the next elimination, things are not looking good for mat smith's Hazards of Geocaching 2 (The Sheep) John's Knockout Racer Travel Bug, which is currently almost 200 miles behind it's nearest competitor and is in the hands of an occassional cacher who hasn't cached since picking up the woolly TB.
In fact, the only entry in The Great Travel Bug Knockout which has moved this week is Hediya's Love and Peace (Maan) TB, which Quebecois cacher new8812 placed into this new cache (after visiting 12 more in the area!), where it was quickly retrieved by fellow Canadian Musicien. He, in turn placed it into another newly-placed cache, adding 1.31 miles to LaP(Maan)'s total milage covered, from where it was picked-up a couple of days later by geric1 who still has possession of the trackable.

Is The Skylark's hopes sunk?
5...4...3...2...1...
With only 5 days until the next Elimination Day, it appears that wemnog's hopes for a Knockout win for his Travel Bug The Skylark may have run aground, as although Stompy&Stampy dropped the little sailing boat into this cache (after dipping it into 26 other caches first, of course!). After a week's rest it was retrieved by cacher scott_ie89, who dipped it into this cache, adding a scant 0.54 of a mile to it's distance travelled. He has since dipped the tiny dinghy into 33 more caches, then re-visited 4, and has retained possession. The Skylark has now been logged into 225 caches (including 6 repeat visits)!
Despite all this activity, that teeny .54 of a mile has proven insufficient to hold back mat smith's Hazards of Geocaching 2 (The Sheep) John's Knockout Racer TB, which was retrieved from this Portuguese cache by Dutch cacher bachjes, who is threatening to take it back to The Netherlands with him. Assuming that the previous holder of HoG2, Wild_Lion, placed the woolly trackable directly into the cache, the distance added is 78.09 miles. What is it about Portuguese cachers and their reluctance to log TBs into and/or out of caches?
Another place change this time too, as although cacher Taubacher finally dropped off lgxkls' Hazards of Geocaching 1 - Karon's Knockout Racer TB into this German cache (after a couple of abortive dips), no actual official Knockout milage has been added due to the Only The First Dip By A Cacher Counts rule. Therefore, after cacher Svenimateur placed Smart451's Smart Car 10 Knockout Racer Travel Bug into this German cache adding 161.21 miles and fellow German cacher Fo0dy moved the little car along to this cache, adding another 7.02 miles, SC10KR has moved into 5th place overall in The Great Travel Bug Knockout. Interestingly, affter visiting Spain, Slovenia, Italy, Austria and Norway, these two entries are now in caches less than 60 miles apart. Small World eh?
Finally for this update, cacher Radijs placed cooper troopers' the noble traveller TB into this cache, adding another 3.02 miles to it's total distance travelled.

Almost time for the 7th Day Of Elimination!
5...4...3...2...1...
With only two days until the 7th entry is eliminated from The Great Travel Bug Knockout, the situation is looking bleak for G-X's Voodoo Whodo What You Don't Dare Do People (Racer Bug) TB, which has been missing since last month.
Not too many moves to report in the last couple of weeks; current 3rd place holder, Hediya's Love and Peace (Maan) Travel Bug was placed into this cache, adding 14.16 miles to it's distance travelled, and from where it was retrieved by Canadian cacher DisneyGirl. DG has indicated that she may move it to an Alaskan cache soon, hopefully breaking LaP(Maan) out of the circular holding pattern that it seems to be stuck in in British Columbia.
Smart451's Smart Car 10 Knockout Racer Travel Bug was placed into this popular Swedish cache, adding 8.61 miles, and was soon picked up by local cacher oskargeo.
After an extended stay of over three months in a Scottish cache, castlegrice's George's Fun Bus 2 TB has been collected by cacher cumbycritter.
Finally, wemnog's The Skylark Bug, which was in the hands of cacher hedgehogmad has been retrieved from this cache by cacher elliott150, with no evidence of how it got there (not the first time that this has happened to The Skylark!). Assuming that the little sailing boat was placed into this cache immediately from it's previous home (although it should be noted that LSL#09 is a premium member only cache and hedgehogmad is not a premium member of Geocaching.com), I have added 3.11 miles to TS's official Knockout distance covered.

Still no sign of The Wild Man of the Woods...

It's the final countdown for Grizzly Pair's Quatchi - Grizzly's Knockout Racer! Will the elusive Travel Bug be found in time to add sufficient milage to it's distance to exceed Billy Bear Racer's distance? For that matter, will Billy Bear Racer turn up in a cache or a cacher's hands? All will be revealed by noon tomorrow...
In other news from The Great Travel Bug Knockout, 4 of the current top 6 have either been dropped off or picked up:
Racer leader, Blid435's BraveHeart TB, has been retrieved from the cache that it was resting in by newbie cachers FlipDags. This is the first trackable that FlipDags have ever picked up. Will they know what to do with it?
Third placed TB, Hediya's Love and Peace (Maan), has been placed into this event cache, to be held tomorrow, adding 5.23 miles to it's distance travelled.
Fourth placed entry cooper troopers' the noble traveller, has also been moved a short distance, 1.21 miles, and I'm sure that any distance added will please cooper troopers, but will they be happy that their Travel Bug has moved from a cache that is visited almost every day to one that is visited almost every week!?
Finally, current sixth placed Bug, smart451's Smart Car 10 Knockout Racer was retrieved from the event cache that it was placed into by experienced Swedish cacher omaster.

It's countdown time again at The Great Travel Bug Knockout, and Grizzly Pair's Quatchi Knockout Racer TB appears to be a sitting duck, having disappeared into a thief's personal menagerie months ago. Of course, one can never quite tell when or where a Bigfoot will appear!
In other Knockout news, Hediya's Love and Peace (Maan) Travel Bug is on the move again, having been picked up by Canadian cachers laphamclan, whilst Swedish cachers Pettssons have finally placed Smart451's Smart Car 10 Knockout Racer into a cache, this one, for literally, a well-deserved cup of coffee, well-deserved because prior to stopping at this event cache, SC10KR visited no less than seventeen caches in and around the area of Södertälje, click the links to see which ones!

Knockout Ferrari squeezes a litte more milage out of it's tank

Longtime California-based cacher kmfriend retrieved Jacaru's Knockout Ferrari Travel Bug from Ice Cant See the Tide From Here and placed it into this cache 2.06 miles away, from where KF was collected the same day by fellow Californian composter1.
Meanwhile, with 24 hours to go until Elimination Day in The Great Travel Bug Knockout, Happy Humphrey's missing Scary Halloween Monster has barely a ghost of a chance of surviving...

Bad news for Happy Humphrey's Scary Halloween Monster TB which is still missing without trace. Possibly it's like a trackable Germelshausen and only reappears every Halloween...

BraveHeart back in a cache, Scary Halloween Monster still AWOL

Despite the Christchurch earthquake disaster on New Zealand's South Island, caching has continued on the North Island, with cacher cabhassett placing Blid435's Braveheart Travel Bug into this cache in Taupo township on the northern shore of New Zealand's largest lake, Lake Taupo. As this is the 5th cache that Braveheart has visited whilst in the possession of cabhassett, no distance has been added due to the only the first dip counts rule, despite which BH has still travelled more than twice as far as it's closest competitor in The Great Travel Bug Knockout.
Unfortunately nothing more has been heard from Happy Humphrey's Scary Halloween Monster Travel Bug, meaning that SHM is currently the most likely TB to be kicked out of the Knockout at the March 1st Elimination.

Are thejellybabies eying up Elimination?!

Despite GDSteam's promise to keep thejellybabies' My Little Eye in The Great Travel Bug Knockout, they are still holding the beady little TB, and haven't logged onto Geocaching.com since November 11th last year. I wonder if My Little Eye saw that one coming?
In other news, just the minor matter of a new Knockout leader! Yes, kiwiowl has made good on his intention of taking Blid435's BraveHeart TB to New Zealand, where he dipped it into a cache that he owns, adding a magnificent 11471.01 miles to BH's distance travelled, easily moving the shiny little bug into 1st place overall. Kiwiowl has retained possession of BraveHeart, but any subsequent milage added will not count towards The Great Travel Bug Knockout, due to the 1st dip only rule.

In other news, two separate cachers have reported Mat Smith's Hazards of Geocaching 2 (The Sheep) John's Knockout racer Travel Bug to be missing from the Portuguese cache that it is logged into. Still, with almost 900 miles under the woolly trackable's belt, there's plenty of time for it to turn up before it faces the prospect of elimination.

Billy Bear emerges from his hibernation

The weather must be improving, as Ve8's Billy Bear Racer Travel Bug has emerged from his bunker after a 7+ week hibernation, thanks to Bigspen, who is threatening to take Billy to Cheshire in the near future.
A second entry in The Great Travel Bug Knockout retrieved today is smart451's Smart Car 10 Knockout Racer, retrieved from a Swedish Event Cache by Stockholm-based cachers Pettssons.

Two Bugs snug in a French cache
5...4...3...2...1...
Cachers rallisalli & hawkeye have placed both cooper troopers' the noble traveller Travel Bug and oceanblue07970's Half Hearted TB into the same French cache near the commune of Mozé sur Louet in the department of Maine-et-Loire. This adds 412.01 miles to the noble traveller's distance travelled and 412.51 miles to Half Hearted's journey.
It's good to see so many entries in The Great Travel Bug Knockout travelling overseas and racking up the miles so early on in the event!

The first elimination from The Great Travel Bug Knockout will take place at noon (GMT) tomorrow (or as near to as I can make it!). With my own BPJC: M1 Junction 29: The Cache of the Living Dead buried under a foot of snow, making a move for Rag Zombie highly unlikely, it looks like my The Exterminator! Travel Bug may be saved by the snow; although to paraphrase Commander Sam Shore, "Anything can happen in the next 18½ hours!!"
And here's a picture of oceanblue07970's Half Hearted, for no other reason than it's nice to put a picture up on this blog now and then...

Slowfox fast enough to catch sheep

Infant cacher Firstfox placed Mat Smith's Hazards of Geocaching 2 (The Sheep) John's Knockout Racer Travel Bug into this Leicestershire multi-cache from where it was immediately retrieved by his French-domiciled grandfather slowfox. This not only gives The Sheep an opening distance travelled of 7.57 miles, but also presents the strong possibility that it may soon be seen grazing on the slopes of The French Alps.
This means that Rag Zombie is now the only entry in The Great Travel Bug Knockout to have yet recorded any milage. It also means that my own The Exterminator! is not looking too secure...
